It’s always disappointing when a film’s release gets pushed back, but Blade Runner fans can rejoice as the sequel will now hit screens earlier than expected.
Alcon Entertainment have announced that the film has been moved from its original planned release date of 12 January 2018 forward to 6th October 2017; the androids will dream well tonight.
We don’t know a whole lot about the sequel yet, other than the fact that it will be based several decades after the original. Variety (via Squareeyed) are reporting that the film is deep in its pre-production at the moment, with Sicario director Denis Villeneuve at the helm.
Harrison Ford will be reprising the role of Detective Rick Deckard, and is joined by Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright. It is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.
Ridley Scott is returning to the project in the role of executive producer.
