The Fast & Furious spin-off starring The Rock and Jason Statham has a great director on board

Well, we knew it was coming and now it has a director… yes, the Fast & Furious spin-off starring The Rock and The Staith (Stath? Stathe?) is ready to, em, rock.

David Leitch, director of Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and co-director of John Wick, will be helming what we’re expecting to be a great action flick starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, the mismatched duo who were the best think in Fast 8 (which, we’re not lying, we enjoyed way too much).

The movie is currently rumoured to be called Hobbs and Shaw (has w great 80s detective series ring to it) and is set to explode on screen on July 26th, 2019.

The movie will be written by six times Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan.

This is exciting news, indeed. We’re big fans of John Wick and while we didn’t care much for Atomic Blonde, we certainly loved the direction (that stairwell fight?!) so we have high expectations for this one.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
