The ‘Kathleen Kennedy is out’ rumours are picking up again…

June 27th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Earlier this month we ran a report that Kathleen Kennedy may have upset the powers that be at Disney and may be movie out of the Star Wars Captain’s chair (wrong franchise!)… well, we’re hearing the same thing again.

We actually ran the following survey and it seems that the fandom, on our page certainly, want her to go:

But now, as it seems the Star Wars fanbase are eating themselves – seriously, if you haven’t been following the fans recently, you should, it’s amazing – after The Last Jedi divided the fanbase and Solo actually lost money, people started speculating that the wheels are coming off in a galaxy far, far away.

Now Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Randolph is reporting that Disney CEO Bob Iger wants to replace Kennedy (we’ve embedded the full video below) but he can’t find anyone who wants the job!

Can you imagine… the greatest franchise on the planet (come at me) and no-one wants to run it?!

She reports that The Force Awakens and the upcoming Episode IX director JJ Abrams was offered the gig but turned it down. But the reports are that the reason no-one wants the job is because there are those supporting and those going against Kennedy and no-one wants to step into that sort of situation.

Now, as always, this is just a rumour… but we tend to believe that there’s no smoke without fire.

Do you think Kennedy should stand down or are you happy with where Star Wars has gone since Disney took over?

Sound off in all the usual ways folks.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
