The Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone Star Wars movie(s) rumour is back – in Force (sorry)

Obi-Wan Kenobi is unquestionably one of the most important figures in the Star Wars Universe. His history is intrinsically linked with that of the Skywalker line, and he is one of only a handful of characters to have appeared in all six (so far) Star Wars films.

Apparently Disney is acutely aware of this and is contemplating the idea of a trilogy of films based around Obi-Wan. According to a report from Schmoes Know, Disney is in early talks with Ewan McGregor to reprise the role.

According to the report: “the film (or films) would focus on Obi-Wan’s adventures between the two trilogies as he watches over a maturing Luke Skywalker. The film(s) would be standalone adventure(s), with the possibility of characters like Owen Lars and Darth Maul appearing.”

With all of this in mind, it is worth remembering that no representative of Disney or Lucasfilm has confirmed any of this. I have to admit though; I would be interested in seeing McGregor reprise the role. Though the prequel trilogy had many problems, McGregor was never one of them. I would like to see him get a chance to tackle the role with a steadier hand guiding his performance.
