In a time of reboots and remakes, we should probably be happy to hear that the latest offering in The Omen franchise is a prequel to the original movie starring Gregory Peck.

Antonio Campos, the indie director of Christine is in negotiations to helm.

The movie is being backed by 20th Century Fox and is currently named The First Omen, is written by Ben Jacoby and will be produced by David Goyer and Kevin Turen and their Phantom Four banner.

Anyone who remembers the regionally movie will recall it featured Peck as an Ambassador whose son is replaced by the anti-Christ and was directed by the legendary Richard Donner, director Superman, Lethal Weapon and The Goonies.

We’ll remain cautious about this one, but we certainly won’t complain if we get a good entry into The Omen franchise after all these years.

Thoughts?
