If you like the Fast & Furious movies then you like Dwayne Johnson’s character, Hobbs. If you don’t like the Fast & Furious movies then we assume you aren’t reading this…

Anyway, the actor formerly known as The Rock has been talking to Collider about the Fast franchise and his place in it, moving forward. And first up, is the eighth Furious movie: “Of course [Hobbs will be in Furious 8]. It can’t go on without Hobbs.”

I’m going to go ahead and say “yay!”.

Moving on, there’s been rumours for a while that Hobbs was going to get his own spinoff movie(s) and the  actor has confirmed that there are cogs in motion regarding that too: “We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what  the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.”

Personally, it’s almost embarrassing how much I’m loving the Fast & Furious movies, so Hobbs getting a role in the next movie and his own spinoff sounds like guilty pleasure heaven.

Sound off in the usual way, guys…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
