April 24th, 2014 by Marc Comments

As sure as Santa will visit FTN HQ this Christmas, you can also bet that the third Hobbit movie will hit too… and as ealry as it is in 2014, we have an official name…

Peter Jackson has announced via Facebook that the last movie wil be called  The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armie.

Sounds epic.

And, as the folks at Total Film put it, the last movie should be: “essentially be one giant battle sequence as the hobbits, goblins, elves and men all go up against one another for one epic scrap.”

so, out with There And Back Again and in with the new, which Jackson apparently decided upon while watching a rough cut of the movie: “I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title,” he said on Facebook.

“We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate.”

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies hits cinemas on 12 December 2014

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
