Well, never let it be said we don’t admit when we’re wrong because, well, we were wrong.
Honestly, hand-on-heart, I didn’t for a second believe this would happen and yet, here we are…
Joaquin Phoenix has finalised his deal to star as the Joker in the standalone movie set outside the DC Cinematic Universe with shooting is set to begin in September in New York.
The movie will be directed and co-wrote by Todd Phillips along with Scott Silver and is described as an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”
The movie is touted as being unlike any comicbook movie you’ve seen before with a low budget of $55 million range it is “meant to be darker and more experimental in tone and content which is described as being akin to a crime drama.”
The movie could possibly see a release date of late 2019 but so far there’s no word on when we’ll see it.
Weirder and weirder.
