As you will all already know, we here at FTN are BIG fans of this Ghostbusters reboot. And by big fans, we mean we’d rather eat razor blades than have our favourite franchise rebooted.

But director Paul Feig has set about putting our minds at ease. And by  putting our minds at ease we mean… oh, you get the point.

Appearing on last night’s Talking Dead, Feig spoke about how The Walking Dead is a big inspiration for Ghostbusters: The Reboot.

Uh, what?

“I was very inspired by this show,” he said.

“What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about gauntlet run. And that’s something, an element I want to bring to this Ghostbusters reboot is having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that. I really feed off of The Walking Dead.”

So the director of the reboot of the most successful COMEDY of all time has said that TV’s most depressing and gory (well, it IS up there) shows is an influence on the direction of the new franchise direction.

Well, that’s yet another nail in the coffin, then.

I swear, I think this is all a cruel joke by Sony, sometimes…

Ghostbusters is due in theaters on July 22, 2016.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
