You wait all year for news on Wolverine 3 then two great days come along at once.

We learned yesterday that Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine outing will be dubbed Logan – a throwback to Old Man Logan in the comics, no doubt – and today we have rumoured plot details and an image of a much older looking Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier in the movie.

First, (rumoured) plot points:

Logan takes place in the year 2024. The film is dark. Darker than any other other “Wolverine” or “X-Men” movie.

Logan looks bad, and drinks a lot.

He’s sick, his powers are fading, and he heals much more slowly — and sometimes not at all.

The girl in the poster (above) is a young mutant. In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.

Professor X (Patrick Stewart) is old and not well – (this at the very least seems on the movney, see below) – his powers are unstable and at times he doesn’t even remember Logan.

Stephen Merchant plays the Albino mutant Caliban, who helps Logan take care of Professor X.

Logan director James Mangold shared the below image of Xavier in the movie in which it seems that Professor X is about 30 years older (if the timeline rumored above is right) and he looks every day of it.

We’re looking forward to this one, despite the other two begin a disappointment.

Logan will be released on March 3rd, 2017..
