Is there anyone more adored in nerdy circles right now that Tom Hiddleston? No, we don’t think so either.

The star appeared at Wizard World Philadelphia at the weekend and chatted about the two massive franchises he’s currently linked to and brought bad news and good… a mixed bag, indeed.

Firstly, talking about his much rumoured involvement with the James Bond franchise, the actor had some bad news for his fans: “I’m sorry to disappoint you, everybody. I don’t think that announcement is coming. But I’m very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. There’s not much that I can say that I haven’t already said, but I know… Your guess is as good as mine to be honest.”

Now, while we are disappointed to  hear this, we are delighted to hear that he is coming back as the bad guy we hate to love… love to hate?.. whatever… Loki!

Yes, Thor’s troublesome half-brother will be back to cause trouble in Thor: Ragnarok and Hiddleston is looking forward to getting that horned helmet back on: “I’m so excited to be playing him again. I haven’t played him, I really haven’t played him properly since the end of 2012. I know Thor: The Dark World came out in 2013, but the last time I put the suit on was in 2012 if you exclude San Diego Comic Con. I don’t know if you would include that or not…

“So what I’m interested in really is how his attitudes have changed. While Thor was away with his buddies fighting a computer, and uh, I’ll think you’ll see it’s, there is all sorts of interesting things. I’m four years older and Chris is four years older  and there will just be new things we find in it. The most exciting thing about him is that he is always a trickster. It is trying to find new ways for him to be mischievous, because I love doing that, and I hope you guys love within that.”

He goes on to hint that his ‘puny god’ has a bone to pick with Hulk and it may happen this time out: “And lets not forget that its no secret that um, that the Hulk shows up in Ragnarok, and um, the last time Loki and Hulk were in the same room didn’t go very well for Loki so, he’s got a few chips on his shoulder, but um, yeah, it’s fun, you’ll see.”

We’re looking forward to seeing him back as the mischievous bad guy  and we get the feeling we aren’t on our own in that.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
