Colin Trevorrow promises original movies’ cast will be Jurassic World: Dominion throughout and will be integral to the story

In a new interview with director Colin Trevorrow about an exclusive IMAX preview of Jurassic World: Dominion in front of the upcoming Fast 9, some new details were revealed about how this movie will not only tie up the Jurassic World trilogy but also the Jurassic Park story which came first.

The movie, due to arrive next June, will not just see Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return but will also see the long-awaited return of Jurassic Part’s core characters played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum as Alan Grant, Ellie Sadler and Ian Malcolm, so there’s a lot of expectations on the movie which will tie up six movies, two trilogies.

But will we see Neill, Dern and Goldblum much in the movie, or is it just a few glorified cameos? Well, Trevorrow is keen to point out that all three will play and integral part of the movie and will appear throughout: “I feel like we’ll want people to come see the movie to see the context of it, but they are in the whole movie,” he says.

He goes on: “They are major characters and they go on an adventure together, and they collide with our modern characters. It is a celebration of everything that Michael Crichton created, and what Steven created, and what the other directors contributed to this over the years. I really felt like it was an opportunity to bring everything together and, hopefully, clarify why we’ve been telling this story for so long. That’s what it was really all about.”

On the pressure of such a big event movie and story end, Trevorrow said: “I don’t think anyone was going to buy a story of all of these people deciding to go to a place full of dinosaurs together, ‘cause they don’t know that they were in the movies! They need a really good reason. So building a story that would lead to an organic collision of these characters was some black diamond screenwriting.”

It remains to be seen if Trevorrow can pick up from the terrible previous movie, let alone wrap up almost 30 years of movies, but I’ll be there opening night to find out.

What about you guys? Let me know.
