Two previous Luthors say Jesse Eisenberg will do just fine as Lex…

February 28th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Well, we’ve all started to settle down after the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Metropolis’ villain Lex Luthor in  Batman Vs Superman (or, y’know, whatever it’ll be called). Haven’t we? Well, it seems that a couple of men think he’ll do just fine… and these men should know.

Yes, two previous Lex Luthors have been asked if Jesse is the man for the job… and it seems they have faith in the man. Kevin Spacey, who gave – in my opinion – a very unfairly dismissed portrayal of Luthor in Bryan Singer’s 2006 Superman Returns, told Empire:  “First of all, I think he is a remarkable actor. He’s just going to  own it. I think it’s a great idea and I wish him the best with it.”

Michael Rosenbaum, who played Luthor in long-running TV series  Smallville, told The Cinematic Katzenjammer: “He’s a really good actor… He’ll do it his own way and that’s the best way. If you can do it your way, if you succeed or fail, you succeed because you are being original. If you’re trying to emulate someone, you’ll always be compared. That’s why I didn’t want to be be compared during Smallville. I didn’t watch any of Gene Hackman as Lex. He’ll be fantastic. Great actor, no problem with it.”

So, does this put your mind at rest? Or are you still unhappy with the casting? Let us know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
