Unlikeliest story of the week: Wesley Snipes back for Blade 4?

August 31st, 2014 by Marc Comments

OK folks, pinch of salt time, but we felt we should report it anyway because, if it’s true (it’s very probably not) we’d feel very silly indeed.

Remember during SDCC we reported that Wesley Snipes was keen to play Blade again (here)?

Well, the The New York Daily News is reporting that Snipes is set to play the character again in a new movie featuring the day-walking vampire who slays vampires.

They are claiming things are “looking good” for this happening, depite the fact that New Line no longer own the rights to Blade which reverted back to Marvel recently. This would mean that, if the movie did happen it would need to do one of two things: either restart the franchise with Snipes in the role and ignoring the previous movies OR take the previous three movies as part of the story – and ultimately the Marvel movie universe – which means that The Reapers exist in the same universe as Howard the Duck (?) and the Marvel Movie Universe actually kicked off in 1998 when the first Blade movie came out.

So, it’s for these reasons we have to say that this is probably nonsense. That said, we’d love to see it happen… what about you guys?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
