Vince Vaughan confirmed for Dodgeball sequel, likely to be joined once more by Ben Stiller

It looks like we’re going to have to learn the Five Ds of Dodgeball all over again!

Yes, the hit 2004 comedy starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn is getting a sequel and it looks like Vaughn and Stiller will be game on.

It’s been reported that Vaughn is confirmed to return as Peter LaFleur while Stiller is looking likely to return as the villainous White Goodman.

While we’re still waiting to hear if Stephen Root, Justin Long and Alan Tudyk, among others, are to return, I’m just excited to see what the sequel does as the movie was one of the early 2000s [2004] breed of movies, along with the likes of American Pie, that I just cannot imagine getting made today… so I really hope they don’t compromise the humour in this one.

At the end of the first movie, we saw Stiller’s goodman lose the Dodgeball championship to Vaughn and his unlikely team of everymen, and become a shadow of his former fit self, seen in the mid-credits scene as an obese slob who took losing really, really badly, so it’ll be interesting to see what state he’ll be in by the time the sequel comes around. I see him either being fit again and wanting revenge or perhaps seeking out La Fleur to help him get back into shape.

Either way, get ready to Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge all over again!

Synopsis for the original movie:

Average Joe’s Gym and its owner, Peter La Fleur (Vince Vaughn), are both down on their luck. A fancy competing gym called Globo-Gym, run by the maniacal health nut White Goodman (Ben Stiller), is about to put Average Joe’s out of business unless Peter can raise $50,000 to keep his mortgage. To save the gym, Peter and a ragtag group of Average Joe’s members and employees enter a dodgeball contest with a big cash prize. In response, White forms his own Globo-Gym team to rout the competition.
