In some late breaking news that’ll have many fans happy (for numerous reasons), Viola Davis, star of How to Get Away With Murder, is said to have been selected to portray Amanda Waller in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.
The deal is more-or-less in place, the only catch is that the filmmakers have to work around her TV commitments. If they can do that, she’s in. We’ll let you know if this changes.
As stated above, the casting of Viola Davis will be pleasing to many fans. True, she isn’t the “Wall”, like many fans wanted Amanda to be in the movie, calling back to the characters origins in the comics and her role in Justice League Unlimited. However, Davis has shown her tough as nails personality in How to Get Away With Murder, showing she can be as tough as the head of the Suicide Squad needs to be.
Also, she’s not Oprah, that’s a big plus.
With her casting, the major players of the Suicide Squad are set. Let the filmmaking begin!
