Ok, everyone calm down… Warner Bros have released a statement regarding Henry Cavill’s future as the Man of Steel and it’s reassuringly… vague!
Following the big news earlier that Henry Cavill may be done playing Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe (here), the internet went into meltdown – some rejoiced, some are devastated, some even claim Warners is talking to Black Panther star Michael B Jordan for the role but so far there’s absolutely nothing to support that as of yet.
Anyway, I digress…
Warners, on Cavill’s exist, had this to say: “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”
Well, thanks for that Warners Bros it told us not very much…
In the same ball park Cavill’s manager, Dany Garcia, took to Twitter before Warner’s statement to let fans know that Cavill is steel our Man of Steel, with a more optimistic statement that the studio itself released:
Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today.

It’s all rather – pardon the pun – up in the air for now but if we had to put money on it we’d say that after Mission: Impossible being such a hit maybe Cavill has asked for a bit more gratitude – financially – for his work and negotiations are ongoing. We’d also say that Michael B Jordan isn’t in the picture at all.
But what do we know?
UPDATED:
Cavill himself has taken to Instagram (below) to post about the day’s shenanigans saying ‘today was exciting’ while holding up a Superman figure and wearing a Kryptonian weightlifters tee-shirt.
What does it mean? Perhaps i means he’s excited to tell us he’s not leaving. Perhaps he means it’s exciting because now he can show Warners how much the fans want him to stay… we like to think he’s just telling us to relax, he’s not going anywhere.
