Warners/DC to allow Ben Affleck full control of his standalone Batman movie?

Well, this would make sense, wouldn’t it?

Affleck, no matter how you feel about Batman V Superman, is universally praised for his work as Batman/Bruce Wayne and throw in the fact that he’s got a Best Picture Oscar under his belt for Warners with Argo and it’s really not surprising that the studio entrusts the story – and movie – to him.

He knows what he’s at.

The report is coming from Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez, who says that Affleck and Geoff Johns have full creative control with Affleck writing, directing and starring.

So what does that mean for the movie? Well many will be excited to hear that it means Zack Snyder and Charles Roven will not be involved at all and Affleck, a self proclaimed comics fan, will get to tell the story he wants to tell with Johns helping out along the way.

This is very exciting news, if true, for the movie… while we fight in Batman V Superman’s corner, we know this will probably make a lot of fans very happy indeed.

Are you among them?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
