WATCH: Brian O’Halloran confirms return for Jay & Silent Bob: Store Wars

October 21st, 2026 by Marc Comments

After the release of Kevin Smith’s Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, Kevin Smith said that the movie was cheap to make, made a lot of money – physical sales were very big – and the studio asked him to keep churning them out.

So he’s doing just that, with the lovable stoner duo’s third movie now getting ready to film, according to one of its stars.

A while back, Smith announced that he planned on making a Jay & Silent Bob movie which would play out like Spy Vs Spy, saying: “Believe it or not, man, we still find financing for Jay and Silent Bob pictures, so we’re making a movie called Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars. For those who recall and still follow this closely, in Clerks III, they now run their own dispensary, since weed is legal in New Jersey. Store Wars is basically Spy vs Spy. Another dispensary opens up across the street, and they spend the whole movie fighting and trying to destroy one another. So, it’s a stoner comedy, man, of the highest order, and I’m happy as hell.”

MOVIE REVIEW: FTN reviews Clerks III

For true Smith fans, you’ll know that Smith skirted around a story similar to this in the short-lived Clerks: The Animated Series back in 2000, when a new store opened opposite the Quick Stop, but it seems that Smith wants to develop the idea further and put a lot of stoner humour at its core.

Speaking of Clerks, speaking to Comics, Beer & Sci-fi, (below) frequent Smith collaborator Brian O’Halloran said that he has received the script for the new Jay & Silent Bob movie and he films soon: “Yeah, so I just got the script for the new Jay & Silent Bob movie, Jay & Silent Bob: Store Wars. So, I’ll be appearing in that; we start filming in November.

“Knowing Kevin and how quickly he edits, we’ll probably have this out and touring, Kevin likes to tour his films, probably by the end of summer or so.”

For the record, this is great news.

Recasts, returns and religion, Kevin Smith gearing up for Dogma 2

O’Halloran, best known as Dante Hicks (he has played other characters, I know) in the Clerks movies, is the character that I indentified with most in Smith’s world – yes, I would have rather it been Randal but I’m a realist – and his SPOILER death SPOILER END in Clerks III never sat right with me because, well, that movie was a massive disappointment (it’s the only movie I’ve ever seen where the trailer is not only a better movie but tells the story better) but my big worry here is that he’ll bring O’Halloran back as a ghost – probably a Force Ghost, knowing Smith.

Dante’s death in the Viewaskew universe (Smith’s movies all exist in one reality) may have been handled poorly, but it is one of that universe’s heaviest moments, so if Smith decided to undo that in a crass way, well, let’s just say I hope that’s not how it’ll be.

Kevin Smith: If The Flash succeeded, a Keaton-led Batman Beyond movie was coming

Aside from that, I used to love Kevin Smith movies; they would always have been marked in my calendar as an event before their release but that’s been very far from the case in recent years, in particular since he made the first Jay & Silent Bob movie in 2001, but man, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in 2019, well, that was a spectacular failure. I don’t hold out much hope that this will be any better… but yes, I will watch it because, as I said before, I am an eternal optimist.

Thoughts on the return of Brian O’Halloran to the world of Kevin Smith movies? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie no longering moving forward

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
