Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of THE CROW in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr.
Going back to the beginning, the new movie will, rather than being another sequel, start afresh with Skarsgård playing the first Crow, Eric Draven, famously played in the 1994 original by Jason Lee who tragically died during filming.
So, controversial for sure, after all, there have been sequels to the ’94 movie with others taking on the mantle of The Crow, which I thought this was going to do; it’s also a slight bone of contention that this Crow looks a lot like Jared Leto’s Joker.
All that said, I really like the look of this and, while it’s unlikely it’ll be the classic the original was, I’ll be looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.
Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.
Rupert Sanders directs the film.
The Crow hits cinemas on 6th June 2024.
