All the way from CCXP in São Paulo, we have a motion poster, poster, news and a trailer for George Miller’s latest Mad Max movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga… although Max is not present in this one.

Acting as a prequel to  2015’s awesome Mad Max: Fury Road which saw Tom Hardy take over from Mel Gibson as the titular Mad Max, the movie focuses on the character of Furiosa, played in 2015 by Charlize Theron and played now by Anya Taylor-joy, and focuses on how she became the badass she was when we first met her eight years ago.

George Miller discusses the future of Mad Max as first looks at Chris Hemsworth in Furiosa appear

Speaking at CCXP, Miller spoke about the franchise – which he has written and directed since 1979’s Mad Max – saying that every time he makes another and its well received, he keeps thinking “what if this happened?” and then a new movie/story starts to form.

Check out the motion poster:

He said that once Fury Road came out and people focused on the character of Furiosa, he knew he’d more story to tell about the character and this new movie stated to take shape and once he saw Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho, he knew that Taylor-Joy was the person for the role.

Chris Hemsworth, Thor himself, will appear in the movie as a new character, Dementus, and the star said he’s “violent, brutal person [who is] a product of the Wasteland.”

Interestingly, Miller said that while Fury Road was a fast adventure that covered three days, Furiosa will cover a fifteen-year period, covering the rise of Furiosa.

Oh, and Tom Holkenborg AKA Junkie XL, has confirmed that he’s returning to score the movie too:

I really get the feeling that the Mad Max world is far from being over and done and if they continue being as good as Fury Road, I think that’s a great thing. See you all in May 2024 at the pictures!

Furiosa is directed by George Miller, stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, Daniel Webber and Lachy Hulme; it hits cinemas on May 24th, 2024
