The first clip from Ghostbusters: Afterlife is here and, well, it’s not what we expected.
Leaning heavily into the fans’ nostalgia, the clip features Paul Rudd’s teacher, Mr Gooberson (Baskin Robbins always finds out), out shopping for snacks when he runs into a familiar face… or, rather, many of them.
Honestly, I don’t know what to make of it – I love that, like the original movies, the new outing embraces the silliness of Stay Puft but I just hope he manages to keep it this side of too silly.
As It is, I enjoyed the scene and look forward to seeing it all in context. Oh, but how amazing is that Elmer Bernstein-inspired music?!?!?
And I’m very happy to see the ‘only in theatres’ at the end. Aren’t you?
From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.
Sweet. Mischievous. Savage. 🔥 Mini-Pufts are out of the bag, don’t miss #Ghostbusters: Afterlife only in theaters this fall.
