A new behind-the-scenes from next month’s The Flash features Micheal Keaton’s Batman and, as man in his 40s who cannot explain how important Tim Burton’s original Batman was to him in 1989, it still feels like maybe I’m imagining it.
While Keaton’s return was meant to kick off much bigger things before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over control of DC – he was a big part of the scrapped Batgirl movie, was set to appear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Blue Beetle and was even getting his own Batman Begins series – it’s still so damned exciting to have him back here, even if it’s for one last hurrah!

I was 12 when Batman came out and it was the first movie that I really got into properly – my love of Elfman’s score, my absolute awe at the design work of the late Anton Furst, my desire to see more Burton movies, more Keaton movies, the fact that it was what really got me into comics, Batman and by default Keaton’s take on him, played a massive, formative role in who I am now and, honestly, seeing him back is an emotional experience that I never thought would ever really happen.
But it has and it’s so exciting.
Keaton-led Batman Beyond movie was coming but has been put on hold!
Welcome back Micheal Keaton, you’ll always be MY Batman.
See you all on June 14th (in the Uk) and June 16th everywhere else.
The video is below; enjoy.

Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
“The Flash” ensemble also includes rising star Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon (“Bullet Train,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”), Ron Livingston (“Loudermilk,” “The Conjuring”), Maribel Verdú (“Elite,” “Y tu mamá también”), Kiersey Clemons (“Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Sweetheart”), Antje Traue (“King of Ravens,” “Man of Steel”) and Michael Keaton (“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Batman”).
The Flash arrives in the US on June 16th and in Europe/UK on June 14th.
