WATCH: New VFX reel proves El Diablo survived in original cut of Suicide Squad

So, here’s the deal… I really liked Suicide Squad. Can I admit it has flaws? For sure! But it’s a lot of fun and the wealth of characters just really floated my comic geek boat.

And, as much as I really would love to see Zack Snyder’s original vision for Justice League, I also would love to see David Ayer’s original vision for Suicide Squad.

And here’s just one of the reasons why I would really like to see it, because my favourite character – and arguably the best character in the whole movie – El Diablo, played by Jay Hernandez, didn’t die in the original version of the movie.

A new VFX reel that has appeared online shows the finale of the movie with Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Katana and Rick Flag all standing together… and El Diablo is there too! Before being digitally erased in the FX shot.

So, while it’s not the the biggest issue that needs addressed in the DC Cinematic Universe, I definitely would like to have seen El Diablo back for Suicide Squad 2.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
