Who wants to see Robin riding alongside Batfleck in a future Batman flick? If your answer is yes, you are definitely not the only one.

This past week Big Hero 6 star Ryan Potter made headlines when he released a video of a fight scene he choreographed as an impromptu audition tape for a role that as of yet doesn’t exist, the Batman sidekick Robin. Not only is he asking to play Robin, he wants to play Tim Drake Robin.

Why is that a big deal? Well, it’s already been long confirmed that the defaced Robin suit on display in the Batcave from Batman Vs. Superman was that of Jason Todd. Todd of course was the Robin who took the mantle once Dick Grayson struck out on his own as Nightwing. Jason Todd though didn’t resonate with fans, and his death was played out in the Batman series Death In The Family after fans voted to axe Todd via the now infamous call in campaign. And who followed Jason Todd as Robin? That’s right, Tim Drake (My personal favorite Robin.) So if we were to see a Robin on the big screen, making him Tim Drake would be a perfect fit with the Batman timeline.

And if you haven’t seen it yet, Ryan Potter puts his all into the scene. There’s nothing better than when an actor passionately goes after a role like Potter did. And to top it off he ends the video with a direct request for the role to the Batman himself saying,”Hey Ben, like Tim said, Batman needs a Robin.”

As someone who actually likes Robin more than I do Batman, I couldn’t agree more.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
