So it was Ghostbusters Day yesterday – the original movie turned 32 – and in celebration the stars of the originals and the reboot appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Show (below). Oh, and check out the new official poster above.

So, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson joined the new cast of Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones on the hot seat(s) and everyone was looking at Bill Murray.

Murray famously for years put off starring in Ghostbusters III, so Kimmel asked him why he decided to star int his movie in which he plays a character not related to his original Ghostbuster, Peter Venkman.

Murray, as always was calm and collect: “I thought about it for a very long time. Like, many, many months. No, that’s not right. I was seriously thinking about this for years, really … It kept eating at me, and I really respect those girls.

“When you see the film, and you’ll delight in the film, it sort of rumbles along in the beginning. You’re going, ‘Oh God, are they going to pull this thing off?’ I felt like a stepfather to the whole thing. There is no quit in these girls. This is a tough movie to pull off, because it’s a big concept. There’s a lot on the plate – there’s a lot of expectation.”

You can see the video below but does Bill Murray’s endorsement do enough to win you over? Or are you excited for this anyway?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
