Do you remember watching Star Wars: The Phantom Menace years ago and thinking ‘wow, a Darth Maul origin story would be awesome’? Well, we use to fantasise about a Darth Maul standalone movie and now our wishes have been granted, kind of.

Darth Maul: Apprentice – A Star Wars Fan Film captures everything we loved about the red-and-black, double lightsaber-wielding Sith Lord from George Lucas’s somewhat unpopular Episode I.

It may be a fan film, but the lightsaber duels and effects are highly impressive which, mixed with solid acting and writing, makes for an enjoyable watch that’s entirely free.

Beyond that, it’s also a beautifully shot piece of film and considering the video has received almost a million views in merely two days on YouTube, it could spell a major job opportunity for the guys behind the camera. There’s also a how they created the film video below:
