WATCH: Wes Anderson tackles aliens in trailer for Asteroid City

Any time a new Wes Anderson movie is announced, it’s something to feel excited about.

The man behind The Royal Tennebaums, The Life Exotic and The Fantastic Mr Fox is doing aliens this time out in his new movie Asteroid City.

Set in a small American town in the fifties, the movie sees the people of the town coming to grips with the fact that they’re not just in the world spotlight because they’re in an asteroid crater but now it’s also because they’ve made first contact.

The cast, Anderson’s wonderfully off-the-wall style and the subject matter make this nothing short of unmissable.

Asteroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

Asteroid City stars Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Adrien Brody, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe & Tony Revolori.

Asteroid City is only in theaters June 16th.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
