‘We’re all back’ Bette Milder talks Hocus Pocus sequel…

November 4th, 2020 by Marc Comments

We’ve known for a while that a Hocus Pocus sequel was in the pipeline (at last) but now we know that the full cast is likely coming back for more Halloween shenanigans.

In a new interview, star Bette Midler confirmed that, yes, a sequel is being made and, more importantly, the three sisters – actresses Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy – are all set to return.

“They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” she said, adding, “I’m game, I’m totally game.”

It was previously believed that Disney really wanted them all to come on board, reprising their roles.

Director Adam Shankman, currently working on Enchanted sequel, Disenchanted, will helm the movie while at the minute it’s not confirmed which he’ll direct first.

The 1993 original was released during the summer because Disney didn’t want it competing against its own Nightmare Before Christmas later that same year and, because of this, it was a massive flop. However, over the years it has become a much-loved favourite around Halloween and is a much-loved family favourite. And it looks like Disney have realised as much, thankfully.

The first movie saw a trio of wicked witches, the Sanderson sisters, brought back to life on Halloween night and setting out to steal the souls of children all over the world, but who are also horrified to learn that Halloween is no longer a night of evil and fear… it’s a movie that is much more sinister than most ‘kids movies’ allow themselves to be and is likely one of the reasons it resonates so much with its fans.

So, with Halloween just over, who is excited for another visit from the Sanderson sister? Let me know your thoughts, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
