Why Venom is a PG-13 PLUS online Venom comic here to read…

September 16th, 2018 by Marc Comments

So the rating of Sony’s upcoming Venom movie has been revealed and it’s left a few fans rather disgruntled.

Ruben Fleischer’s movie based on Spider-man’s villain will not take place in the MCU and early word seemed to lean to the movie going for a hard r-rating as it existed in its own world, tapping into the Wolverine/Deadpool audience.

However, a couple of weeks ago it was revealed that the folks behind the movie have hopes that Venom will eventually meet his comicbook counter-part, Spider-man as he’s portrayed in the MCU by Tom Hardy, so we all suspected that the r-rating may no longer be on the table.

And it seems we were right.

It’s been officially revealed that the movie will run 1hr 52minutes  and will be PG-13.

So, to us that means Sony are really hoping to cross their movies into the MCU – heck, we’re secretly hoping this means Spidey will appear in the movie! But it also means that SOny have decided to not limit their audience and go for the bigger money which can be found in the younger and family audiences.

Honestly, personally, I have no issue with this. I’ve said many times that I see no reason for these movies to go for the adult audience, especially with character from the more mainstream side of the comics.

Although, to appease all audiences, director Fleischer has said he’d certainly ‘not rule out’ an unrated home-release.

One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award-nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.

Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Riz Ahmed, and Woody Harrelson and opens in theaters on October 5, 2018.

Oh, and just to get you in an Venom state of mind, Marvel have released an online digital prequel comic for the movie. Although it’s actually a scene from the movie… weird.

Anyway… enjoy:
