It looks like James Gunn’s upcoming Suicide Squad movie will not have one of the original’s core members.
Reports are coming in that Will Smith will not be returning for the sequel as Deadshot.
Now, we will remind you that a few weeks back it was reported that Margot Robbie would not be returning as Harley which was then debunked.
Scheduling issues are quoted as the reason he won’t be appearing.
The movie is set to begin filming this September with a February 7th release date planned.
Will you miss Smith’s Deadshot? Do you wish Gunn wasn’t attached? Let us know your thoughts…
UPDATED:
The story was originally reported by Variety’s Justin Kroll and he has added a new bit of information:
One item I forgot to add to story, sources say execs are now deciding whether they will recast the role or replace Deadshot with a different character from the DC universe to join the team in sequel
— Justin Kroll (@krolljvar) February 28, 2019
This is honestly such a bad idea… why would they recast Smith? The nature of Suicide Squad is a team that varies and rotates, so just pull in another villain – last time we checked DC has quite a few – and leave the door open for Smith to come back at come point in the future to the franchise.
Thoughts?
