The Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo have signed a three-year first-look deal for feature films with Sony.

This is very interesting, given the recent teaming of Marvel and Sony on the new Spider-man venture.

Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad said: “Joe and Anthony Russo are terrifically exciting filmmakers with a sensibility that matches the tastes of audiences worldwide.”

The brothers themselves added: “We’re thrilled to make a home at Sony Pictures, and to be partnering with the entire team. The studio has created an environment that is not only collaborative, but truly filmmaker-friendly and we’re excited to begin developing both new and ambitious material with them.”

The brothers’ next movie with Marvel is Captain America: Civil War and with rumours persisting that the new Spider-man will debut in that movie, it has us wondering just how attached the brothers are with the new Spidey movies; but we’re going to put our necks on the line and say ‘very’.

The Russos’ deal with Sony begins in April and we’ll keep you up-to-date with developments.
