X-Force movie is probably dead as is Dr Doom, Multiple Man and Gambit

While we had high hopes that, despite the Fox/Disney merger, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool may have had what it takes to survice and maybe even – given how he’s so meta – broken into the MCU (in the comcs Deadpool seems to be the ony person aware that he is in a comic!), but alas, it seems not.

We’re hearing that the Dr Doom, Multiple Man and Gambit movies are all dead in the water thanks to the merger and now it seems Deadpool is too.

Rob Liefeld, creator of Deadpool, has tweeted out that Deadpool III or the X-Force movie as it would likely be, is not happening: “Pour one out for ol’ X-Force. Victim of the merger. $800 million grosser easy.”

We had hoped that with the release of Once Upon A Deadpool Disney was trying to see if the character has potential in the non-R-rated world of the MCU and, while it seems it did, it looks like it may not make a difference.

With Marvel’s brutal cleaving of the Netflix shows, it seems they are truly cleaning shop… but man, we wanted Deadpool to win so bad! Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
