Yes, a John Wick and Nobody crossover could happen, says director

Ok, so a while ago I watched a movie that I was very excited about for a while and it exceeded all my expectations (isn’t it great when that happens?) and that movie was Nobody.

The movie starred Better Caul Saul star Bob Odenkirk as a regular family man who pisses off the Russian mafia and, thankfully, he has a past that makes him up to the task. And, honestly, it’s a delight.

And, while it’s very much it’s own thing, I couldn’t help but think the movie owed a bit to John Wick.

Seemingly regular guy has bad day causing him to snap and come up against the Russian mafia when he beats up on the wrong person but luckily he’s up to the job – yup, on the face of it, the two of them are brothers-in-arms.

Now, Nobody has a much deeper character in Odenkirk’s portrayal of a man just trying to live his life while knowing he could be much, much more but doing it because he loves his family… but they definitely share some DNA.

Which has me wondering… could these guys meet at some point in the future? Or, is Nobody set in the John Wick universe? Which got me thinking about that time we believed Atomic Blonde may be the same universe (here) but that an whole other story.

So… could Nobody and John Wick be distant relatives in the same bonkers world?

Well, yes, it seems.

Hardcore Henry and Nobody director Ilya Naishuller has gone on record as saying a crossover between the two isn’t totally out of the question.

“I love when the people ask, ‘Is it the same universe?’ I’m like, ‘Alright, I can’t say anything. But what you could do is look at which studio made which movie and then think about the reality of doing a crossover,” he said.

This is a nod to the fact that Wick is by Universal and Nobody is by sister studio Summit Entertainment.

“That’s all I’ll say. I mean, everything’s possible. Stranger things have definitely happened, but… yeah.”

John Wick is currently developing its fourth and fifth installments but Naishuller’s saying ‘I can’t say anything’ and ‘that’s all I’ll say’ definitely has me thinking there’s something to this and if there’s a crossover coming then just take all my money now.

Noboy hits home streaming next month and I strongly recommend checking it out when it does if you haven’t seen it yet.
