Well, he’s been a big deal in Star Wars Rebels and almost stole the he show in Solo: A Star Wars Story and now the core Star Wars movie line is getting the one, the only, Landa Calrissian back!
Yes!
It’s been confirmed that Disney/Lucasfilm have lined up the last iconic character to be killed onscreen in the next movie. We jest. Mostly.
While we have been hearing ever since Episode VII: The Force Awakens that Lando may be coming back, we’ve been waiting patiently for it to happen – don’t get us wrong, we loved Donald Glover in the role but there’s only one Billy Dee Williams! – it’s finally going to happen with JJ Abrams bringing him back to the character for the first time on the big screen since 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
Fans may recall that the character of DJ in The Last Jedi was meant to be Lando but writer/director Ryan Johnson changed it before filming because he didn’t want Lando to betray the heroes once again.

In related news, it seems Abrams has also cast actress and Felicity star Keri Russell in the new movie.
Abrams previously worked with her in Mission: Impossible III. Word is the role has “action-heavy fight scenes”.
Let the speculation begin on whole she’s playing now…
Episode IX is being directed by JJ Abrams and will reunite Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver and is set to open Dec. 20, 2019.
We chatted to Billy Dee back in 2012… you can watch it here
