Zack and Deborah Snyder say Justice League is where things start to get ‘a bit lighter’

One of the biggest complaints aimed at Zack Snyder’s first two movies in the DC Cinematic Universe – Man of Steel and Batman V Superman –  is how dark they are.

And we at FTN have speculated before that, while they are dark, with the arrival of the Suicide Squad, Flash, Green Lantern, Booster Gold and others, things will get a little brighter as they go along and it looks now like producer Deborah Snyder and director Zack Snyder are reinforcing our idea.

Speaking with IGN – full video below –  Deborah Snyder said: “Justice League is a little bit lighter, ’cause some of these characters – you know, Flash tends to be a little bit more comedic, I’d say.”

Her husband, director Zack Snyder, added: “One of the things that lightens it is having Flash or having characters that are more optimistic. This movie is particular to characters who are having a crisis of conscience, which sort of draws them together.”

Do you think it will make sense that over time things will brighten in the DC universe? Or are you annoyed that Snyder said optimistic characters like Flash, while totally ignoring Superman? Anyway, I digress… let us know your thoughts

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
