January 30th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Well, it’s a big year for Ghostbusters fans as the original movie turns the big 30-years-old and LEGO have got the ball rolling very early with an announcement that we Ghostheads have been waiting a long time for… yes, the CUUSOO project has been approved and we will finally have LEGO GBs!

With rumours floating around of new toys and a new animated series being considered, I foresee this being a very costly year for Ghostbusters fans… bring it on!

Here’s the announcement video (More GB goodness after the video):

UPDATE

Continuing the Ghostbusters 30th anniversary goodness, we have just heard that there are POP! Vinyl Ghostbusters figures coming from Funko. They will be doing a series that includes Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Slimer and Mr Stay Puft. There will also be an Ecto 1 for the figures and the latest rumour is that Winston Zeddemore will be included with the car. Also, some people have pointed out that the figures (pictured below) are missing a #107 and if Winston isn’t that figure then who else can we expect? Oh and the completists will be delighted to hear there are expected to be SDCC variants and exclusives. They are expected to hit around May 2014.

UPDATE 2
Thanks to Ghostbusters News we now have pics of the upcoming 30th Anniversary 1:18 Hot Wheels Ecto-1. This die-cast $275 set also comes with the four boys in grey and is expected to be very similar to the current 1:18 Ecto-1 only with the new figures. Oh, my.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
