Meet BB-9E, The First Order’s evil BB-8

August 31st, 2017 by Marc Comments

Meet BB-9E, the First Order’s new droid who looks a heck of a lot like BB-8.

And yes, we reckon the ‘E’ stands for ‘evil’ because Disney could well be making things that obvious.

The new droid will be a big draw from midnight tonight as Force Friday II kicks off and, once again, the new Sphero products are simply stunning.

But, look, we love BB-8 and this new droid on the block looks pretty great too but nothing, NOTHING, tops R2-D2. If I had the money and wasn’t getting up at 6am for work, I know who I’d be buying.

BB-8™, BB-9E™, and R2-D2™ are astromech droids from a galaxy far, far away…. Powered by the new Sphero App-Enabled Droids app, drive your droids, send them on patrol together, and more. Roam iconic ship interiors and memorable locations from the Star Wars™ saga through augmented reality and the Droid Trainer accessory. Each droid has different holographic environments to explore.

These droids span decades of adventure from Star Wars saga – iconic R2-D2 is a veteran of the Rebel Alliance, BB-8 is a trusty astromech droid of the Resistance, and BB-9E is the First Order’s rolling menace. The specialized tech in these droids make them unlike any other. Watch them interact together and view films from the Star Wars saga with BB-8, BB-9E, and R2-D2 reacting by your side. Immerse yourself in the Star Wars galaxy. These are the droids you’re looking for.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
