WATCH: LEGO’s Soundwave set is one of the coolest we’ve ever seen

July 10th, 2025 by Marc Comments

The LEGO Group, in collaboration with leading games, IP and toy company Hasbro, reveals the LEGO® Icons Transformers Soundwave model set (10358), an immersive building experience crafted for adult fans.

This collectible set captures the essence of the iconic Decepticon Soundwave and his loyal cassette companions in a detailed and dynamic LEGO brick interpretation.

The LEGO Icons Soundwave set invites builders to build a highly detailed version of the legendary Transformers character. With 1,505 pieces, the set features posable joints, a working cassette bay, and seamless conversion between robot and cassette player modes – without disassembly. Pressing Soundwave’s play button activates specially recorded voice and sound effects, offering an interactive, first-ever twist with sound.

There are five Transformers movies in development? Michael Bay returning?

Accompanying Soundwave are two buildable cassette companions: Ravage and Laserbeak, that convert into miniature cassette tapes, fitting snugly into Soundwave’s chest compartment. Accessories including a rocket pod, laser blaster, and darts add to the set’s action-packed authenticity. A display plaque showcasing Soundwave’s power statistics makes this a perfect centerpiece for home or office display. This new set adds a villainous Decepticon to the existing the LEGO Icons Transformers lineup, which also includes the LEGO Icons Optimus Prime set and the LEGO Icons Bumblebee set.

The LEGO Icons Transformers Soundwave set will be available for LEGO Insiders Early Access from 1st August and for all shoppers from 4th August via LEGO.com/Transformers and LEGO Stores, priced at €179.99 / £179.99 / $189.99.

Looks like the Transformers: One sequel is no longer happening

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
