I have to admit, one of my great cinematic sins, was that I only saw 12 Monkeys for the first time three years ago. After sitting down to watch it, I was completely shocked that it had taken me this long to see it. The film crafts a beautifully dark and surreal look at the future and is driven by an excellent central performance by Bruce Willis.

The reason I tell you this, is that it looks like history is set to repeat itself, as the TV series inspired by the movie is cutting out a very unique path for itself.

With all of that out of the way, it was announced this week that Madeline Stowe, star of the original 12 Monkeys, would be appearing in the show’s second season: “Stowe will not be reprising her role as Dr. Kathryn Railly, as the show already has one played by Amanda Schull… Stowe will instead play Lillian, a patient in a mental hospital in the late 1950s.”

Overall, I don’t really know how to feel about this. Overall it is nice to see Stowe back in the same property, but it will be strange seeing her in a different role. Still, only time will tell how this turns out.
