The Preacher team are at it again…
A poster has just been revealed for Amazon’s new series from Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, which is a new r-rated comic book adaptation based on Darick Roberston and Garth Ennis’ classic The Boys.
And it can’t be argued that they haven’t stuck to the source material pretty faithfully… at least so far (look at the bottom of the page to see for yourself).
The Boys are Billy Butcher played by Karl Urban, Jack Quaid as “Wee” Hughie, The Female wll be played by Suicide Squad’s Karen Fukuhara, Mother’s Milk is played by Laz Alonso, and Tomer Capon is playing Frenchie and together they are CIA agents whose job is to keep a world over-populated with superheroes, are charged with keeping the equilibrium.
However, based on Garth Ennis’ writing, don’t expect a familt-friendly outing; as said above, this is r-rated and will be brutal and crude… which sounds great.
Showrunner Kripke said of the series: “I want it to be graphic when it needs to be, because that’s what’s best for the story, but I want to tell this character story about these regular, blue-collar humans taking on these entitled, super-powered, one-percenter gods and the relationships amongst them.
“So, it gave me a great compass to decide when things from the books weren’t gonna fall into the story because they didn’t service the characters and then when shocking moments did because it takes your breath away when one of your characters has to go through that.”
We have feeling we might see something at New York Comic Con next weekend.
We think this looks great. What say you all?
