AMC bringing Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles to life in shared television universe

June 28th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Some exciting news for fans of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles tonight as it seems we’re about to get a fully realised, interconnected universe on the small screen and, I must admit, this has me kind of excited.

AMC acquired the rights to author Anne Rice’s entire collection of novels last year and now we’re getting a TV universe on AMC, kicking off with the best known of the tales, Interview with the Vampire.

The series is expected to kick off in 2022 and Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul’s Mark Johnson will be developing the series.

“The challenge of adapting for television the groundbreaking and immensely compelling work of Anne Rice is both intimidating and exhilarating,” Johnson said.

Rice has been writing the Chronicles since 1976 and they have a massive, loyal fanbase who will, no doubt, be excited at this news. The world of Rice’s Vampires is an eloquent, dark world as beautiful as it is terrifying and seeing it back on screen would be something potentially very, very lavish.

Can they capture the tone and look of Neil Jordan’s superb Interview with the Vampire movie? If they can, then this will be unmissable TV.

Are you excited to see this world translated to television and given full room to breathe? Let me know all your thoughts, guys,
