IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE FINALE OF ARROW OR THE PENULTIMATE EPISODE OF THE FLASH YOU MIGHT WANT TO STOP READING AS THERE COULD BE SPOILERS IN HERE

Did Arrow and The Flash set up Green Lantern in the DC TV universe? Well, yes…

In the finale of Arrow, in one of the flashbacks we clearly see Oliver Queen heading to Coast City (below – more after the image)

Comic fans will know that Coast City is the home of Hal Jordan, Green Lantern. And we now know that Oliver was is Coast City… could he have met Hal? Might he know him pre-Lantern? We reckon this is a distinct possibility.

Or how about this? See the reference to Ferris in the sign above? Well, in last week’s The Flash, Barry talked about the disappearance of a Ferris Test Pilot… that is also a reference to Hal Jordan who was recruited by the Green Lantern Corp (in the comics) while working at the airfield.

Interestingly, Diggle actor David Ramsey has said that he will be putting on a mask next season (here) and the rumours that he might secretly be Jon Stewart, another Green Lantern in the comics, just won’t go away.

So, does this mean Diggle is a Green Lantern? Well, not necessarily, but we like to point out potential plot and interlinking stories… anyway, what it does mean is that Green Lantern Hal Jordan DOES exist in the Arrow universe.

This doesn’t mean we’ll necessarily  ever see the Corp but it’s certainly setting up the groundwork. And with Legends of Tomorrow setting up characters like Vandal Savage, it’s true to say that nothing is too far for these shows now. With meta-humans, the Lazarus Pit and immortals running around, we reckon aliens aren’t that far fetched…

And we are so thankful for that.

Arrow actor Stephen Amell talks a little about Coast City in the clip below…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
