For those of you with, you know, memories, you will obviously remember that Peter Capaldi had a sneaky blink and you’ll miss it cameo in the 2013 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, The Day of the Doctor.
Personally, I really liked this, it was a fun way to tease the fans as it only showed a close up of the new Doctor’s eyes, ahead of his full on screen reveal in the following episode. And I thought nothing more of it to be honest, but it seems that we might be revisiting that scene again…
When asked at SDCC if we would ever see how the 12th Doctor participated in the saving of Galifrey, Capaldi responded “Yes” but quickly added “Well you know, it’s really hard, right at this moment, I’m here at Comic-Con, but I’m actually in the middle of filming episode 11, which is part of the finale of this season.”
“So I know stuff that is unfolding in episode 11, and I know certain things that are happening in episode 12… I haven’t read episode 12, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on there, but in answer to your question… you’ll have to wait and see.”
This adds fuel to the fire that The Doctor will actually find the stasis locked Galifrey in the series 9 finale. But one big question remains – will they ever explain why the 12th Doctors Tardis time rotor is green instead of orange in that cutaway? Time will tell…
Series 9 kicks off on September 19th.
