How’s this for a case of coming full circle? As if getting John Wesley, aka the original Flash from the 90s series, wasn’t enough of a callback, we’re getting ANOTHER person from that series as well! AND…they’ll be playing the same character from that series, in this one.
Amanda Pays according to Variety, will come to Flash to play Dr. Tina McGee, the very same character she played before, but this time, with a twist!
Whereas before she played an ally to John Wesley’s Flash, this time she’ll be part of a rival firm of S.T.A.R. Labs, and have an interest in Grant Gustin’s Flash’s superpowers.
“When we decided to bring Tina onto our version of ‘The Flash,’ who better to get than the amazing actress who originated the part?” said exec producer Andrew Kreisberg. “Like with John Wesley Shipp, we are so proud and excited to have another actor from the original series join us on our new adventures for Barry Allen.”
This is pretty cool, and not the first time the CW has done something like this. After all, they got Christopher Reeves to appear on Smallville, so bringing in Wesley and Pays is just another way the CW and WB are paying homage to who came before.
Flash premieres on Oct. 7.
