Although the series was cut short, Constantine plans on getting more of the comic’s mythology chronicled before the end…

Executive Producer Daniel Cerone tells CBR that there’s a wealth of comic mythology to harvest and they fully intended on doing just that: “We had such an embarrassment of riches with those comic books.”

“I’m literally just leaving playback right now for episode 12. We utilize a black diamond which has an iconic mythology around that in the DC Universe (see image above). We did our version of the black diamond. Yes, we use the mythology as an inspiration for that episode.”

The gem, called Heart of Darkness in the comics, comes from the planet Apokalips and was a weapon for DC’s version of Thanos, Darkseid. A demon called Eclipso lives in the diamond and uses it to control people. The episode is called Angels and Ministers of Grace and won’t go into any of the things we listed above, but hey, it’s there…

Cerone refers back to Doctor Fate’s Helmet which appeared in the very first episode (see image below): “We were utilizing the helmet — there wasn’t a Fate appearance planned in that episode. We had a big storyline built around the helmet.

“We’ve all been playing around with, ‘Okay, what does the helmet do and how do we use it?’ Once we shot the pilot, it would have been wrong to show it and not use it. It was always our intention to play it off by the end of the season.”

We love Constantine here at FTN and really, really want this story to continue…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
