Could Tom Welling REALLY appear as Superman in The Flash? And check out Danielle Panabaker’s awesome Killer Frost outfit

OK, so this is serious ‘pinch of salt’ material, but we really want to put it out there because, frankly, we love the sound of it. See that image above? Wouldn’t it be cool if someday we might see it onscreen? well…

With The Flash back three weeks now (where does the time go!?) and having set up the idea of the multi-verse already, and with Jay Garrick and Zoom set to be big parts of the new series, we’ve been giddy at the prospect of what other realities/worlds/character we may see. And now it looks like there’s a very slim chance an older iconic hero could be returning.

Many of you will be fans of Tom Welling’s take of Clark Kent/Superman in the series Smallville… it was the Arrow of its day and ran almost a decade and it had a Justice League all of its own. Well, it seems that there’s a rumour gathering momentum that Welling could return to the red cape for the world of The Flash.

We reported on this waaaaaaay back in April with the same ‘grain of salt’ disclaimer; but it’s back and seemingly gathering momentum:  “Executive producer Greg Berlanti said that Superman may show up on Season 2 of The Flash: “Now, from what I gather, this Superman is going to be played by Tom Welling and his Superman may or may not be tied to Smallville but I think that the end season 1 would introduce an alternate timeline where Superman exists and Caitlin and Cisco are metahumans.””

OK, so a few things, let’s suppose this is on the money, well, we already know Cisco is experiencing meta-human abilities and as for Caitlin, well, she has a story in this page just a bit further down.

Do we believe this? Honestly, no. BUT we want to believe it. Welling could be the Superman of another earth, or even of this earth… he might just look like the other Supes. If this turns out to be true, will we see other heroes from Smallville? How about Supergirl from the new series? Or young Bruce Wayne from Gotham. This is just another reason to love The Flash and Arrow.

I like to call this part of the story the tale of two Firestorms. It is now known that actor Franz Drameh will play Jefferson “Jax” Jackson and is set to replace Robbie Amell as Firestorm this season, however Amell has taken to Instagram and has said that he’ll be back…. so what will this mean? Will we have Dr. Stein and two other halves? We’ll have to wait and see. (More after the pic)

Firestorm is in great hands. But I’ll be back.

And finally…

We all caught a brief glimpse of Caitlin as villain Killer Frost at the end of Season one but now we have our first up close look at the character and, well, she looks stunning in the part. No word on when we’ll see Frost but with the multiverse literally on the characters’ doorstep, anything can (and hopefully will) happen. The image was revealed on The Talk and the interview with Danielle Panabaker can be seen right here.

Here’s Caitlin as Killer Frost in nice, clear detail, let us know your thoughts on any and all of this stuff guys. It is, after all, good to talk

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
