CW orders additional scripts for The Flash plus new teaser hits

September 24th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

With two of the CW’s new shows – The Flash and Jane The Virgin – generating some of the best reviews out of a abundance newbies debuting this fall, the network have ordered three additional scripts for both shows. This news has come just two weeks prior to the October 7th debut of The Flash and three weeks prior to the season premiere of Jane The Virgin, which shows the network are confident with what they have seen. Jane The Virgin’s, which stars Gina Rodriguez, is being predicted as one of this season’s breakouts.

It’s an unusual move giving any type of order to new broadcast series a few weeks before their debut. However, CW executives have seen a few episodes from both shows and have been impressed with what they have seen.

The same thing happened last year with three new shows, The Originals, The Tomorrow People and Reign, all received orders for three additional scripts in October after two airings of The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, one airing of The Tomorrow People, and one week before the airing of Reign’s premiere date, having been pushed back a week. All three scored full-season pickups, with The Originals, and Reign making it to season two.

Oh and here’s a new TV spot called Discovery… enjoy

The cast of The Flash show includes Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Iris’s father, Detective West, Rick Gosnett as Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne aka Professor Zoom/Reverse Flash, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon aka Vibe, Danielle Panabaker as S.T.A.R. Labs bioengineer Caitlin Snow aka Killer Frost, Robbie Amell as Ronnie Raymond aka Firestorm, Tom Cavanagh as S.T.A.R. Labs CEO Harrison Wells, Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen, John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold, Clancy Brown as General Wade Eiling, and Greg Finley as Tony Woodard aka Girder.

The Flash arrives from co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg who, along with Geoff Johns, will write the pilot episode with Arrow pilot director David Nutter at the helm.
