D23 Round-up: All the Marvel TV news… She-Hulk, Ms Marvel, Peggy Carter, Moon Knight and much more…

August 24th, 2019 by Marc Comments

Big news tonight from D23 for the Marvel fans out there, so without further ado, allow me to bring you a blow-by-blow…

First up, the trailer has dropped for the seventh and final season of Agents of SHIELD and it looks like it’s been saving up all the mad stuff for the end…

On top of this, we’re getting a new kids’ Spider-man series:

“Preschool kids already love Spidey, so they’ll be delighted to have Peter Parker thwipping across their screens in this new series” Cort Lane, SVP, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment, said.

In Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends, Peter Parker, who is used to working solo, must discover what it takes to become a truly amazing super hero: being a spider friend who works well with others. Together with his friends Miles Morales and Gwen AKA Ghost-Spider, they will team up with heroes such as Hulk, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel, to defeat evil foes and learn that teamwork is the best way to save the day.

Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends is executive produced by Alan Fine (Marvel’s The Avengers), Joe Quesada (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble), Dan Buckley (Marvel’s Spider-Man), Cort Lane (Ultimate Spider-Man), and Eric Radomski (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble); co-executive produced by Marsha Griffin, and supervising producer Harrison Wilcox. Alfred Gimeno serves as supervising animation producer, and Ashley Mendoza as story editor.

Next, here’s our first look at Hayley Atwell as Agent Cater or rather… Captain Carter in this glimpse at the What If… animated series. The first story will see Atwell voice Peggy in an alternate version of the MCU that asks what if she got the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers:

It also sounds as if Atwell is only too happy to play Peggy again – we love her so much, we’d love to see her back in any capacity in the real MCU. But this will have to do… for now.

On top of that, a sizzle reel was shown at the event that also showed Captain America as a zombie… so, Marvel Zombies, then? Yes, please!

Next up, it’s been confirmed that Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn’s son Wyatt Russell will play John Walker in Falcon & The Winter Soldier aka US Agent, a super-powered hero similar to Captain America… although not Cap’s biggest fan.

Emily VanCamp will also return in the series as Sharon Carter, last seen in Captain America: Civil War.

It has been confirmed that the Wanda Vision series will be “Half classic sitcom, half MCU spectacular.” This lends weight to rumours that it would see Wanda AKA Scarlett Witch creating an alternate reality which will see her and Vision living in a fantasy world similar to an American sit-com.

Kat Dennings will be back as Darcy… remember her from Thor and Thor: The Dark World? And Randall Park will be back as Ant-Man and the Wasp character Jimmy Woo. Em.. yay?

Oh, remember we met Monica Rambeau in Captain Marvel? Well, she’s back for Wanda Vision… though she’s all grown up. Here’s Teyonah Parris as an aged-up Monica Rambeau:

Next up, the evening’s really big news.

Three new series are now in production over at Disney+ to Join Wanda Vision, Hawkeye, Loki and Falcon and Winter Soldier.

First up, She-Hulk:

“Bruce Banner is no longer the only Hulk in the MCU. Jennifer Walters is a Hulk, she’s a lawyer, and she will star in a show unlike anything weve done before in the MCU,” says Feige.

Next up, the one the fans have been asking for for a loooong time, Moon Knight is getting his own series. The MCU does Batman? Ok, then…

We have also heard that Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington AKA Jon Snow, will be joining the MCU… many are wondering if this is the role he’ll be playing but personally I believe we’ll find out who he’s playing tomorrow during the D23 movie panel… and I reckon it might be a role he should sharpen his claws – ahem – for.

We’ll see.

Finally, the third and final big new TV series for Disney+ is…

Kevin Feige confirmed Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan will ALSO appear in the MCU films.

Also, here’s a very brief glimpse at the Black Widow movie:

And all these shows are Phase Four!

And finally, here’s sneak peek at Phase four in the form of a trailer that someone grabbed at the event. Watch it before it’s gone:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
