Dexter: Original Sin season 2 may not be as dead as we feared

If you’ve been reading my site for any length of time (thank you!), you’ll know that I am a big, big fan of Dexter and that I was shocked at how great the prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, was.

The idea, to me, of recasting Dexter, Deb, Harry, Angel and all the rest of the original show’s cast was almost sarilege but above all the odds, Original Sin not only did it, it did it well – Patrick Gibson and Molly Brown in particular as younger Dexter and Deb, were superb – and the show became a must watch addition to the Dexter world.

It was liked by fans, and the ratings were great, and, as such, when it was renewed for a season two, no one was surprised. When it was cancelled a few weeks later, however, many were surprised.

TIDBIT:

It seems that the superb Dexter: Resurrection will start filming next April and is expected to hit our screens in October 2026, unlike season one, which debuted in July of this year. It’s worth noting that back in the day, Dexter’s original run usually debuted in the Halloween month.
The news was confirmed by showrunner Clyde Phillips.
Interestingly, October 2026 is the 20th anniversary of the show’s first airing on October 1st, 2001.
It might not be out of place to expect/hope for more fun Dexter content next year to mark the occasion.

A victim of the Paramount takeover, the show was a casualty that, sadly, no one saw coming.

However, just like Dexter Morgan himself, it seems it may not be as dead as we feared.

“I heard it might be coming back. You heard it here first,” says Marcos Siega, a Dexter regular behind the camera, having directed on several of the original run’s seasons as well as on Original Sin and the latest outing, Dexter: Resurrection, said on The Dark Passengers: A Dexter Podcast.

Siega stressed that he, like the fans, wants the world of Dexter to grow, and he’s a big believer that getting the word out to the fans and getting them stoked and vocal online is a way to almost ensure this happens.

Going on, he stressed that, while he’s not had any kind of confirmation, he believes that Original Sin season 2 (and even the Trinity Killer prequel series) were not as dead as many feared and that there’s a very real chance one or both may still see the light of day.

Thoughts: I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all…
